Barre is a method of fitness originally created by dancer Lotte Berk. Barre was inspired by ballet conditioning training and Pilates, but nowadays you will often see functional fitness moves and traditional strength training blended into the practice, which make it a fantastic full-body workout. Barre is a low-impact, high-intensity practice that is designed to work all the muscle groups in your body with controlled, small, isometric movements. The inspiration may come from ballet, but no dance background is necessary. Barre is a wonderful practice for any body type, no matter your fitness level or experience. Due to the low-impact nature of Barre, it is a safe way to build deep strength and stamina while protecting your joints and thus ensuring a life-long, sustainable practice.
You will work all the major muscle groups of your body, bringing them to fatigue with a delightful burn. You will feel strong and empowered and you will build deep strength and stamina, both physically and mentally, while we go through the workouts together. The classes are tough and you will definitely feel the burn while you are going through it, but I promise that you will feel amazing at the end!

I originally come from Finland but have been living in Cape Town for many years now. I am a mother to a 5-year-old boy, and if you have kids too, you know that finding time for exercise can be challenging. I had been a yoga teacher before I had my son, but moved into a corporate career for seven years in order to have more stability while starting a family.
During this time, I struggled to keep a daily practice going, but when I found Barre everything changed for me. All of a sudden, I was looking forward to working out every day, and I would make sure I found time for my practice, no matter how busy I was. Barre is what got me through all the craziness over the past couple of years, and I started feeling a strong urge to share this method with other like-minded people, who are perhaps still looking for that one practice that will bring them results and keep them motivated.
I set out to learn everything there is to know about Barre and fitness in general, and I completed certifications in Barre and Personal Training, as well as becoming a Transformation Specialist and a Glute Training Specialist. My journey of learning about fitness is ongoing, but I am ready to introduce Barre classes to you so that you can fall in love with the method the same way I did.
My journey to this point has required a lot of hard work and dedication, but I am so happy to be here now. And that is something I love about Barre too – you learn how to persevere through the tough moments to feel the rewards at the end.
Book now and glow like a Firefly with me!
